ESPN SportsCenter is one of the most watched sports shows in the US, so it makes sense that we now have an official SC app for iPhone and iPad. As with the show itself, it is a great way to keep up with all the live scores, breaking news and views, as well as video highlights of all your favorite teams. And as with many of the sports apps out there, it allows full customization so that you can essentially hide all the content you’re not interested in. You might want to see all the baseball content and nothing else, for example, or just everything associated with the New York Giants and nothing else! This app makes personalizing your sports news experience easy. Download the app now for free and get access to all of these features; what you see here is what you get, and there are no added charges that blindside you just when you start to love the app.

Here are a few of the features that you get with the ESPN SportsCenter app for iPhone. Firstly, you will instant score updates on game day, personalized for your favorite teams. and available in notifications delivered directly to your lock screen. Secondly, you will get all the latest breaking news delivered in the same manner. There is also a full integration with Twitter, which is perfect for those sports fans that love to share their views on this social platform. As such, the ESPN SportsCenter app becomes not just a one-way source of information but a proper community in which a range of discussion takes place. Again, there is full customization when it comes to the delivery of content (add and remove favorite teams easily) and notifications – you can choose from a range of different notifications, and receive your info in a range of different ways.

The app is sleek and clean and great to look at, but I can’t help but become irritated by the wasted screen when it comes to options I’m simply not interested in. I use a mobile data plan and would rather not waste screen space and valuable data on video content, when I’m really only interested in the latest news and reviews. Too often, the video and “listen live” tab intrudes upon affairs and makes it impossible to ignore. I understand that ESPN would want to push this content, but it can become annoying for those that are only interested in reading the news. There are many great customization options when it comes to the preferences and notifications, so why can’t we get the same level of customization when it comes to the screen itself? The ability to turn certain section features off would turn this app from a good one into a great one!
